About JA BizTown: Gwinnett
JA BizTown creates a unique opportunity where 6th grade students are able to interact within a simulated macro-economy, and take on the role of employee, tax payer and consumer. During the visit to JA BizTown, students receive unique job assignments and work in teams at their assigned business. By the end of the simulation each student completes a day's work, develops a personal budget, deposits a paycheck at the bank and makes purchasing decisions.
The curriculum encompasses important aspects of work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, providing students at the sixth grade level with a solid foundation of business, economics, and free enterprise education. The program content also augments students’ core curriculum in social studies, language arts, and mathematics.

The experience begins in the classroom with 21 JA-designed lessons that culminates with a day at JA BizTown. The JA Discovery Center is designed as an interactive marketplace representative of the local business community, including financial services, telecommunications, utilities and more. The JA Discovery Center is authentic and interactive, creating a transformative experience for all students.
